To meet students’ needs we offer comprehensive, consultative and advocacy services.
With our comprehensive package, we offer complete assistance with college planning, college preparedness, and college placement. We fully review the student’s educational history. We help students with high school course selection as well as on extra-curricular activities. We advise as to which standardized test to take and how to request and qualify for accommodations. We work with students on self-advocacy skills, on independence skills as well as on academic skills. We provide an individualized, annotated list of colleges that are a good fit for each student. We help students develop their college essays, and complete the college applications. Finally, we work with students on the transition from high school to college. Through this process, we encourage the skills that will help students graduate from college, not just get in.
Our consultative package provides a family with two sessions, as well as our complete educational history review. We provide a college-readiness assessment to the student to help us learn more about his or her strengths and challenges. We explore a student’s college options with the family and discuss all aspects of the college application process, including standardized testing and accommodations, as well as the need and timing of updated psycho-educational testing.
With our advocacy services, we work with families on an hourly basis in obtaining or renewing the appropriate accommodations in high school. We attend meetings and provide guidance on strategies. We keep an eye on obtaining the accommodations in high school that will be relevant to not only obtaining accommodations in standardized testing but also obtaining the necessary accommodations in college.
