This is a difficult question for all students, but for those with learning disabilities it is more complex. We recommend that students take a mock SAT and ACT (with their accommodations) to determine which best suits their learning strengths. Students should focus their efforts on the one test that yields the best scores as both tests are accepted at all colleges and universities in the U.S. In addition, both tests are offered in the fall and spring each year, so there are ample opportunities to sit for the test. Since the tests are normed for juniors, generally we advise most students to wait until junior year to plan and prepare, but this varies from student to student. No matter when our students finally decide to take the test, we encourage families to map out a testing schedule in advance.
