NoodleTools is a terrible name for a terrific product. This web-based program helps students through the onerous task of writing research papers. At the simplest level, it’s an easy way to painlessly format a bibliography in MLA, APA, or GPO style handling even the trickiest citations. But with a little more work, students will find a set of integrated tools for note-taking, outlining, citations, document annotation, organizing, collaborative research and writing. Notes, quotes, and paraphrasing can be dragged and dropped into an outline which is output as a text file for further writing and editing.
Some school systems, including MCPS, offer students free access to the program. Better yet, many teachers are using the program with their students because of the built-in functions that allow teachers to review students' work and provide feedback online. The best news is that an individual account can be purchased for around $15 per year. Check it out!
